Chapter 1816: End of the First Round!

Damian’s gaze deepened, but he did not attack immediately. Instead, he looked at Dragonheart in Max’s hand, then back at Max himself.

“You are qualified to hold that sword,” he said.

The words shocked many people even more than the battle itself.

For someone from Sword God Palace to say that Max was qualified to hold the Sword of the Sovereign meant that Damian had acknowledged his swordsmanship, at least to a certain extent. It did not mean the Sword God Palace would give up on Dragonheart, but it did mean Damian no longer saw Max as someone who had merely gotten lucky.

Max smiled faintly. “That is good to hear.”

Damian’s expression remained calm. “But qualification and ownership are two different things.”

Max’s smile became sharper. “Then come and take it.”

The sky became still.

Rakan laughed loudly in the distance. “Good! Now this is getting interesting.”

The pure sword exchange had ended.

But everyone could feel that the real battle had only just begun.

“Remember, it was you who asked for it!” Damian smiled coldly.

The moment his words fell, the sword in his hand began to release a terrifying sword intent in all directions. This was completely different from the pure sword exchange they had just finished.

The previous exchange had been sharp, clean, and restrained, but now Damian’s aura was rising without any intention of hiding itself. Silver-white sword light spread behind him like a rising tide, and the sky above the tower began to tremble as if countless invisible blades were being drawn at the same time.

The expressions of the spectators on the tower changed instantly.

“He is really going to use his sword concept.”

“No, this is beyond ordinary sword concept. Damian Voss is about to reveal his Pseudo Cosmic Path.”

“Move back. If these two really clash with their true paths, the tower formation will not hold.”

Rose’s expression became tense as she looked at Max, but Max only smiled faintly. Dragonheart rested in his hand, and the space around him slowly became quiet. He did not release Emotion Severing Path fully, but that silent and cold aura had already begun to gather around his blade, waiting for the moment Damian’s true sword path descended.

Damian’s eyes were sharp.

Max’s gaze was calm.

The crowd held their breath.

Rakan Thorne, who had been watching from a distance, grinned with interest, while Rosaline’s eyes brightened slightly. Orion Starfall, Ervin, and Kaiden Voidmere also focused their attention on the two swordsmen, because everyone could sense that the next clash would no longer be a simple exchange of sword moves.

Damian Voss was about to reveal the sword path that made him the strongest genius of Sword God Palace’s younger generation, and Max Morgan was clearly ready to answer with his own terrifying path.

Damian slowly raised his sword.

The silver-white sword intent around him gathered toward the blade, and a faint, ancient aura began to awaken from within it. It was as if a forgotten sword law was about to descend upon the battlefield, and even before it fully appeared, the surrounding space was already covered in countless thin sword marks.

Max tightened his grip on Dragonheart.

Then, just as Damian was about to fully reveal his Pseudo Cosmic Path, a system notification suddenly appeared in front of every remaining participant.

[Cosmic Ascension Conference: First Round Concluded.]

[Remaining Participants: 100]

[All Qualified Participants Will Now Be Transferred To The Second Round.]

For a moment, the entire world became silent.

Damian’s sword intent froze before it could fully erupt.

Max’s Emotion Severing aura also paused around Dragonheart.

The spectators on the tower stared at the notification in shock, and before anyone could react properly, brilliant beams of light descended from the sky one after another. Each beam locked onto one participant. The tower, the battlefield, the floating ruins, and the distant plains were all covered by the same light.

“The first round ended?”

“It really reached one hundred participants.”

“Damn it, right before Damian and Max were about to fight.”

“This timing is too cruel.”

Rakan Thorne burst into loud laughter as a beam of light descended on him. “Looks like that fight has been saved for the real stage.”

Rosaline looked toward Max from afar, her expression filled with interest. “So the second round begins now.”

Orion Starfall smiled faintly as starlight wrapped around him. “Perfect timing. The main stage is finally here.”

Damian Voss remained opposite him, his sword still raised. The Pseudo Cosmic Path he had been about to reveal was forcefully suppressed by the transfer light, and his expression carried a faint trace of dissatisfaction. He looked at Max with sharp eyes and slowly lowered his sword.

“It seems our battle will have to wait.”

Max smiled faintly. “The second round should be a better place for it.”

Damian’s gaze moved to Dragonheart, then back to Max.

“In the second round, I will see whether you are truly worthy of holding the Sword of the Sovereign.”

Max replied calmly, “Then come and test it.”

The transfer light grew brighter.

The entire battlefield began to blur.

The tower disappeared.

The sky disappeared.

The distant ruins, the floating platform, the watching crowd, and the battlefield where Damian and Rakan had fought all faded into white light. One by one, the remaining hundred participants vanished from the first-round world.

Max felt the space around him collapse and rebuild.

The last thing he saw before disappearing was Damian’s sharp gaze across the light.

Then everything turned white.

[Transfer Complete.]

[Second Round Initiation In Progress.]

The first round of the Cosmic Ascension Conference had officially ended.

****

The white light around Max did not disappear immediately.

For a brief moment, he felt as if his body was being carried through countless layers of space inside the Eternal Hourglass.

The transfer was smooth, far smoother than the sudden relocations of the first round, and it gave off a completely different feeling. The first round had scattered everyone across a vast and dangerous world where survival, hunting, ambushes, and opportunities were all mixed together in chaos.

But this time, the transfer felt orderly. Deliberate. As if the Cosmic Ascension Conference itself was now gathering the final hundred participants onto a true stage worthy of deciding who among them stood above the rest.

Then the light shattered.

Max opened his eyes and saw that he was no longer in the ruined battlefield near the tower.
