“Sit tight, we’re heading off!” Cheng Ye called out with a smile, as the armored vehicle slowly drove out of the community, with the small truck closely following behind.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, the view was astonishingly elevated.

But with prior experience of seeing through the eyes of a giant beast, Cheng Ye found himself well-adapted. He felt a strong surge of security and control.

Even as they exited the North Station and entered the vast Wilderness, this sensation did not fade; instead, it intensified.

“Yiyi, do you see this? This is the world outside!”

Cheng Ye rolled down half of the window. The little one clung onto it, staring at the boundless Wilderness with an open mouth in astonishment.

In her small world, the distinction between city and Wilderness had yet to form, and she wasn’t aware of the risks beyond the towering walls.

But this is the essence of human endeavor — ending the Wasteland Era so that all dangers become a thing of the past.

Ensuring future generations can step out of the high walls without burden, to see the world as it truly is!

After rendezvousing with Mu Shuang’s pickup, the three vehicles lined up along the highway.

Luo Xiaoxue gazed outside, her eyes slightly dazed, “I calculate it’s been almost six years since I’ve last left the Buffer Zone — has the outside changed so much?”

The chaotic, desolate Wilderness in her memory was no longer there. The neatly illuminated streetlights on the roadside offered reassurance.

Even though the dark Ruins of Chuan City remained intimidating, traveling on the highway made it difficult to be engulfed by that oppressive feeling.

Breathing in the fresh air unique to the wild, with an elusive sense of freedom, the worry on Luo Xiaoxue’s face completely disappeared, her mind growing clearer and lighter.

“Hello, Inspector Luokuke.” Luo Xiaoxue poisedly attempted to open the door to greet, but Luokuke quickly stopped her with a smile, “Come in quickly, it’s so late. I thought you wouldn’t return today.”

“Nothing happened in town today?”

“No, no, as you see, it’s lit up like this — how could anything happen.”

Luokuke spoke, unable to contain his laughter, “Inspector Wang came by with dinner at dusk, saying the residents voluntarily stayed late to work on construction, their enthusiasm was incredible.”

Cheng Ye followed his gaze ahead, the area which would have been pitch black by this time at Dapo Town was instead brightly lit, illuminating the nearby Wilderness and even reflecting on the inspection station.

He subtly nodded, driving through the inspection station slowly.

As they drove from darkness towards light, a profound sense of calm surged within.

Once the armored vehicle entered the town center, it was inevitably a lively and bustling scene.

Residents gathered around, eyes filled with curiosity and respect. Cheng Ye smiled and spoke a few words assuring everyone to diligently work, the crowd soon dispersed to resume their construction efforts.
