Summary
Ye Mo used to be a cultivator.
Then, somehow, he ends up on modern Earth.
The problem is not just that Earth is different from the world he remembers. It is the fact that he arrives with almost nothing. The body he now lives in belongs to a young man who has already managed to ruin most of his relationships. His family wants little to do with him, people look down on him, and his future does not seem particularly promising.
To make matters worse, Earth is a terrible place for cultivation.
The spiritual energy here is so scarce that many of the things Ye Mo once took for granted are nearly impossible. Resources are difficult to find, cultivation progresses painfully slowly, and even basic materials can require a ridiculous amount of effort to obtain.
Still, Ye Mo is not someone who gives up because circumstances are bad.
He remembers things that nobody around him understands. Alchemy, formations, talismans, medicine, cultivation methods, these are ordinary parts of life for him even if they sound unbelievable to everyone else. Whenever he encounters a problem, his first instinct is usually to approach it as a cultivator rather than a modern person, which leads to results that often surprise the people around him.
A lot of the story follows Ye Mo as he tries to rebuild what he lost while dealing with the mess left behind by the original owner of the body. Some of the problems are personal, some involve powerful families, and some begin with seemingly unimportant discoveries that end up becoming much bigger than expected.
At first glance, Earth looks like an ordinary modern world. The longer Ye Mo stays, however, the more he starts finding things that do not quite fit that picture, and those discoveries gradually pull him into matters he never planned on getting involved with.
