Summary
Xiao Chen used to think cultivation stories were an escape from reality, something exciting to read late at night while wasting money on questionable things online. He never expected that curiosity to actually destroy his old life.
After swallowing a strange “Immortal Pill” bought together with an ancient cultivation manual, he wakes up inside the Tianwu Realm, a world where strength isn’t just respected, it decides whether people treat you like a human being at all.
Unfortunately, the body he inherits belongs to someone already famous for all the wrong reasons.
The Xiao Chen of the Tianwu Realm was once considered a rare genius within the Xiao Clan, talented enough that many believed he would eventually carry the clan to greater heights. Then, for reasons nobody properly explains, everything collapsed. His cultivation stopped progressing, his martial talent disappeared, and the prodigy everyone once praised slowly became the clan’s favorite source of ridicule.
Eight years.
Eight full years trapped at the same realm while younger disciples surpassed him one after another.
By the time the new Xiao Chen arrives, even servants speak to him carelessly, knowing he lacks the strength to fight back. Every clan examination turns into another public humiliation, filled with mocking laughter and disappointed looks from elders who long ago gave up expecting anything from him.
The worst part is that nobody seems surprised by it anymore.
But unlike the original owner of the body, this Xiao Chen carries memories from another world along with knowledge that shouldn’t exist here. Hidden within his mind is the mysterious Codex of Cultivation, containing ancient techniques tied to alchemy, formations, talismans, and forging methods that most cultivators in Tianwu have never even heard of.
At first, Xiao Chen only wants enough strength to stop being humiliated.
Then things become more complicated.
Because the deeper he explores the secrets hidden inside the Codex, the more he realizes his ruined talent may not have been an accident at all. Certain people within the clan seem strangely invested in keeping him weak, while old tensions and buried resentment surrounding the once-famous “genius” continue surfacing from every direction.
And eventually, after enduring years of pressure that would have broken most people completely, Xiao Chen finally pushes back.
Not carefully, either.
What begins as a desperate attempt to reclaim his dignity slowly pulls him into conflicts far beyond a single clan’s internal disputes, involving dangerous inheritances, terrifying cultivators, and mysteries buried deep within the Tianwu Continent itself.
Because in a world obsessed with martial spirits and destiny, sometimes the most dangerous person is the one everybody already decided was worthless.
