Chapter 1977: A Way To Find The Truth!

The Voidwalker Ancestor sighed softly.

“Those are the same questions I asked myself after being sealed.”

His voice came out quieter than before.

“At first, I thought the sacred legacy was simply an inheritance the First Progenitor left behind for one chosen descendant. I thought it held a supreme path, a forbidden technique, or maybe the complete source of the five bloodline branches. That’s what all five clans believed. We protected it because our ancestors told us to. We feared it because our bloodlines feared it. We worshiped it because it came from him.”

The old man looked up at the glowing statue.

“But after the legacy moved on its own, after it influenced members of my clan and disappeared, I started to question whether we’d ever really understood it at all.”

A cold silence spread through the arena.

The Voidwalker Ancestor continued, “The sacred legacy may not have been waiting for an inheritor the way we believed. It may have been waiting for a condition. A moment. A bloodline resonance. Or maybe a door that only the Voidwalker branch could open.”

Max’s heart stirred. A door.

The old man noticed the reaction, and his eyes deepened.

“That’s why I said what you carry is similar. The sacred legacy also gave me the feeling of hidden worlds, sealed dimensions, and doors beyond ordinary law. But yours is different. The sacred legacy was tied to the First Progenitor. It was anchored here. It belonged to the origin of the Five Sacred Clans.”

He paused.

“What you carry feels like something that can touch that origin, but isn’t limited by it.”

Max frowned even more. That answer didn’t solve the mystery. It only made it bigger.

The Valerius leader suddenly spoke up, unable to hold back. “This is absurd. You’re trying to protect him by making his legacy sound different.”

The Ashbourne leader followed coldly, “Whether it’s the original sacred legacy or something beyond it, it’s connected to the stolen inheritance. That alone makes him dangerous.”

The Evercrest leader’s eyes burned with anger. “Max Voidwalker woke up the abandoned end and suppressed our bloodlines. You expect us to believe this has nothing to do with the sacred legacy?”

The Voidwalker Ancestor looked at them with mild annoyance.

“I didn’t say it has nothing to do with the sacred legacy.”

The leaders fell silent.

The old man continued, “I said it isn’t the sacred legacy.”

Freya’s voice came down from the sky. “There’s a difference.”

The Ravenhart leader’s expression darkened, but she didn’t argue the point.

Max’s mind sharpened even further. Not the sacred legacy, but connected to it. Similar, but beyond it. Able to awaken the fifth end, but not recognized immediately by the statue. Able to suppress the Four Sacred Clan bloodlines, yet not controlled by the First Progenitor’s arena.

‘Then maybe the Dimensional Keeper legacy isn’t something the First Progenitor left behind. That goddess told me an inheritor of the Dimensional Keeper legacy gets born every era, which in a way means it has nothing to do with the Five Sacred Clans,’ Max thought.

Max stared at the statue. For the first time, that calm stone face seemed to carry more mystery than majesty.

The Voidwalker Ancestor’s voice rang out again.

“I can’t tell you what happened to the true sacred legacy after it was taken. I only know it never came back to us. I can’t tell you its final purpose because I no longer believe any of the Five Sacred Clans ever truly understood it. As for the First Progenitor…”

The old man stopped. The entire arena held its breath. Even the four sacred ancestors looked at him with solemn expressions.

The Voidwalker Ancestor’s gaze turned distant.

“He wasn’t just the ancestor of the Five Sacred Clans.”

The statue glowed brighter.

“He was the first being who carried the forbidden source that let us stand beside Primordials without being Primordials themselves.”

Max’s eyes narrowed.

The old man looked at him.

“And if your legacy is truly beyond the sacred legacy he left behind, then Max Voidwalker, you may one day uncover something even the First Progenitor never managed to reveal.”

The arena sank into a suffocating silence. Max looked at the glowing statue, the awakened fifth end, the four sacred ancestors, Freya in the sky, and the Voidwalker Ancestor standing beneath the dark star.

For the first time since this mystery began, he realized the truth about the Voidwalker Clan might only be the outer layer. The deeper secret wasn’t just what happened to the sacred legacy. It was what the sacred legacy had been connected to in the first place.

“Hmph, we’ll know once this kid touches the statue of the First Progenitor,” the head of the Valerius Clan said.

His voice came out cold and full of distrust, but the moment he said it, several people in the arena fell into thought.

The Valerius ancestor, still standing in the dim glow of sacred white-gold light, narrowed his eyes and looked at the statue. After a brief silence, he nodded slowly. “That’s true. If Max Voidwalker really carries the Sacred Legacy of the Five Sacred Clans, the statue of the First Progenitor won’t stay silent once he touches it.”

The Ashbourne ancestor crossed his arms, his crimson-black aura still rolling around him like a sleeping battlefield. “The sacred legacy came from the First Progenitor’s deepest source. It can’t hide from his statue. If the boy carries it, the statue will react in a way none of us can deny.”

The Ravenhart ancestor’s shadow feathers drifted around her veil as her soft voice spread across the arena. “The statue already reacted to his star-like power, but that reaction was indirect. It woke up when he struck the arena and stirred the hidden formation beneath the fifth end. Touching the statue directly will be different. It’ll show whether his legacy actually belongs to the First Progenitor’s sacred inheritance or just resembles it.”

The Evercrest ancestor looked at Max with cold eyes, his expression still ugly since the Evercrest patriarch had been badly hurt earlier. “If the statue confirms he carries the sacred legacy, then no excuse from the Voidwalker Clan will save him.”

Freya’s eyes turned cold up above the arena. The thousands of Voidwalker descendants surrounding the Bloodline Legacy Battle arena let out a faint pressure at the same time, but Freya didn’t speak right away.

She just stared at the Evercrest ancestor as if memorizing his words. The threat she’d placed over the four clans’ descendants hadn’t gone anywhere. If they tried to use this test as an excuse to attack Max again, she wouldn’t hesitate.

The Voidwalker Ancestor looked at the statue for a long while.

The enormous stone figure kept glowing faintly. Its closed eyes shone with a star-like light, and the lines across its body pulsed in rhythm with the awakened fifth end. It looked calm, majestic, and mysterious, as if it had been waiting through countless years for exactly this moment.

No one could say for sure whether the statue’s current reaction came from Max, the Voidwalker end, the Dimensional Keeper legacy, the starry fist, or the old history that had finally come to light.
