Chapter 1966: A Grave Sin!
The four bloodline chains coming down from the sacred clan platforms slowed for the smallest instant, not because the leaders of the Four Sacred Clans were scared, but because the pressure coming off Max had changed.
Up until now, he’d only resisted. He’d cut, dodged, countered, and broken through their seals with the Dimensional Keeper legacy, the Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline, the five Divine Veins, and Dragonheart.
But the aura spreading from him now no longer belonged to someone simply defending himself.
It belonged to someone who’d decided to stop holding back.
Max’s eyes swept across the four clan leaders standing high above the arena. Valerius. Ashbourne. Ravenhart. Evercrest.
All four looked at him with cold recognition and hostility. They weren’t treating him as the champion of the Cosmic Ascension Conference anymore, or as a Primordial inheritor, or as Rose’s representative. In their eyes, something older had woken up the moment the abandoned end of the arena lit up.
The Valerius leader raised his hand again, and golden sacred fire wrapped around the chain stretching from his platform. “Max Morgan, there’s no use resisting. You carry the blood of traitors.”
The Ashbourne leader’s voice followed like iron grinding against bone. “The blood of the Voidwalker Clan.”
The moment that name was spoken, the whole arena seemed to freeze.
Voidwalker.
Many younger descendants didn’t understand the weight behind that name, but the elders did. The instant they heard it, their expressions shifted. Some showed fear. Some showed hatred. Some showed disbelief, as if an ancient taboo had been dragged back from the dead and dropped right into the center of the First Progenitor Arena.
Max’s gaze sharpened.
“Traitors?” he repeated slowly. “Voidwalker betrayed you?”
The Ravenhart matriarch’s veiled face turned toward him. “Not just betrayed us. They abandoned their sacred duty and turned their blades against the Four Sacred Clans.”
The Evercrest patriarch’s voice was cold enough to freeze space itself. “They tried to sever the foundation of the First Progenitor’s order.”
Max’s expression darkened slightly.
“That’s your claim,” he said. “But what did the Voidwalker Clan actually do?”
Silence. A heavy, suffocating silence. None of the four leaders answered.
Instead, the Valerius leader’s sacred fire burned brighter. “You are not qualified to question ancient judgment.”
Max’s eyes narrowed further. “So you’re telling me nothing.”
The Ashbourne leader’s tone turned sharper. “You carry their blood. That’s enough.”
Max let out a slow breath. “So I’m an enemy just because of blood?”
The Ravenhart matriarch spoke again, colder this time. “The Voidwalker Clan are a sin to the Four Sacred Clan and that makes you a sin as well.”
The Evercrest patriarch raised his hand slightly. “By sacred law, any inheritor of the Voidwalker lineage must be sealed.”
Rose’s face went pale.
“Max!” she shouted from below. “This is insane! He hasn’t done anything!”
But several Evercrest elders immediately smothered her voice with pressure and forced her back. Her eyes trembled as she struggled, realizing she was being treated as a liability just for bringing him here.
Max’s gaze flicked toward her for a moment. That alone was enough. His expression cooled completely. Then he looked back at the four leaders.
“You still haven’t told me anything,” he said quietly. “What did the Voidwalker do? What are their sins?”
The Valerius leader’s eyes burned. “You do not need to know.”
The Ashbourne leader added, “You will be imprisoned for the sins your Voidwalker Clan committed.”
Max’s voice dropped. “So that’s it.”
A faint, humorless smile crossed his face. “You want to seal me without even explaining why.”
The Ravenhart matriarch’s voice turned final. “Seal him.”
The Evercrest patriarch followed immediately. “By order of the Four Sacred Clans, Max Morgan is to be imprisoned as a Voidwalker inheritor.”
The moment those words landed, the chains changed. They no longer aimed to restrain him. Now they carried execution-level sealing intent.
Max stood still for a heartbeat. Then he exhaled.
“Then I guess I don’t have a choice.”
The Black Dragon Chaotic Bloodline erupted, and it didn’t build up gradually. It happened violently. Black-gold scales surged across his skin as his body began rejecting its human form entirely. His pupils narrowed into vertical slits, and a draconic pressure exploded outward, crashing into the Four Sacred Clans’ sealing force.
The Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline stabilized the foundation underneath it. The five Divine Veins ignited all at once. And the Dimensional Keeper legacy resonated with the abandoned fifth end of the arena, as if something there was answering him.
Max’s voice dropped low.
“Dragon Transformation.”
Black light detonated outward. His body expanded, his bones reshaping and his flesh rewriting itself under ancient draconic law. Wings tore out from his back, massive and overwhelming. Horns curved like dark crowns. His form stretched and grew until a gigantic black dragon stood at the center of the arena.
This wasn’t an illusion. It was a true transformation.
The arena erupted in shock.
“A dragon?!”
“He’s a Voidwalker and a dragon bloodline user?!”
“No wonder the clans want him sealed!”
Rose stared upward, her hands trembling.
“Max,” she whispered, fear and helplessness mixing in her voice. “Don’t push yourself too far.”
But she already knew he had no other choice.
Angelina Valerius stood silently at the edge of the platform, her eyes narrowing slightly.
Above, the four leaders moved at once.
“Suppress him!” the Valerius leader ordered.
The chains came down again, stronger, deeper, more absolute this time. But Max’s dragon eyes opened, and he roared. The sound shattered space itself.
ROAR!
The golden chain got bitten apart instantly. The Ashbourne chain struck his wing but failed to break it. The Ravenhart soul threads pushed into his mind but sank straight into the vast Dimension of Soul. The Evercrest spatial seal tried to lock his body but got redirected into a false dimension and crushed.
The arena trembled violently.
Max lifted his enormous dragon head.
“You want to imprison me,” his voice rumbled like collapsing stars, “without even telling me what I’m guilty of?”
The abandoned fifth end of the arena pulsed brighter. The broken dimensional rings above it flickered as if responding.
The Valerius leader’s expression turned cold. “No more words. Seal him completely.”
The Ashbourne leader’s killing intent sharpened. “Voidwalker Clan has a committed a grave sin and so they must be punished for their actions.”
The Ravenhart matriarch whispered, almost reluctantly, “Even if the truth stays buried with him.”
The Evercrest patriarch finished, “He will not leave this arena.”
Four massive sealing formations rose.
Rose’s eyes widened in panic. “No!”
But Max had already moved. Black flames gathered in his mouth. The Primordial Bloodline surged. The five Divine Veins burned brighter than ever. And the Dimensional Keeper legacy wrapped around his claw like a star-forged weapon.
Max lowered his dragon body slightly, not retreating but preparing. Then he roared again.
“Then come!”
And the black dragon launched forward to meet the Four Sacred Clans head on.
