Chapter 1951: A Week of Time!

After Max agreed to represent her in the Bloodline Legacy Battle, Rose didn’t keep him in the ancestral hall for long.

She looked once more at the statue of the First Progenitor, and for a brief moment her expression turned complicated again. There was longing in her eyes, but also frustration, restraint, and a faint trace of resentment that had clearly been buried for years.

To the true heirs of the Four Sacred Clans, this statue represented origin, pride, and inheritance. To Rose, it represented everything she’d been denied since birth.

Then she turned away.

“Come with me,” she said. “I’ll take you to the place prepared for you.”

Max gave the statue one last glance before following her out of the sealed hall. The moment he stepped away from the chamber, the strange reaction inside his blood eased a little, though it didn’t vanish completely.

It stayed deep inside him like a disturbed echo, quiet for now but not settled. He couldn’t make sense of it, and since Rose was still beside him, he kept it to himself.

The gate closed behind them. The silver spatial chains around the hall tightened again, and the entrance disappeared beneath layers of folded space as if it had never existed. Rose led him through several hidden corridors that didn’t seem tied to normal distance.

Each corridor twisted gently and changed direction in ways that should have been impossible, yet Max’s Dimensional Sovereign Body could still follow the spatial logic behind them. The Evercrest Clan hadn’t just built a residence inside space. It had turned space itself into architecture.

Soon, they arrived at a quiet courtyard.

The courtyard sat on one of the higher branches of an enormous ancient tree. Its walls were made of pale green jade and living wood, and silver spatial runes flowed across the entrance like water.

A small magical pond lay at the center, surrounded by soft grass, flowering vines, and a few stone paths leading toward several rooms.

Above the courtyard, a faint dome of hidden space separated it from the outside world, giving the whole place a peaceful, isolated feel.

Rose stopped in front of the main room and looked at Max.

“This will be your residence until the Bloodline Legacy Battle begins.”

Max looked around once. The place was quiet but not simple. The energy density here was extremely high, and the spatial runes hidden inside the walls were strong enough to block most forms of spying.

There was also a separate training chamber attached to the residence, and from the faint pressure coming off it, Max could tell it was built to withstand attacks from powerful geniuses.

Rose noticed him looking and explained, “Your room has its own training chamber. It can adjust pressure, simulate different spatial environments, and block most energy leakage. You can cultivate, stabilize your power, or train there without disturbing anyone.”

Max nodded. “Good.”

“The Bloodline Legacy Battle starts in one week,” Rose continued. “Until then, you can rest here. I still need to sort out some things related to registering you as my representative, so I might not come around much these next few days.”

“That’s fine.”

Rose looked at him for a moment, then said, “Max, the Bloodline Legacy Battle isn’t like the Cosmic Ascension Conference. The conference was watched by the whole Divine Realm, so the rules had to look fair. The Four Sacred Clans have rules too, but theirs are older, harsher, and full of hidden meaning. Some people won’t be happy that I brought you here.”

Max smiled faintly. “Then they can dislike me all they want. I’m here to fulfill a promise, not to entertain them.”

Rose’s lips curved slightly. “I figured you’d say something like that.”

She turned to leave, then paused at the entrance of the courtyard.

“Rest for now. I’ll send you information about the battle once I confirm the final list of participants.”

Max nodded. “Go.”

Rose looked at him one last time before stepping into a silver spatial ripple and disappearing from the courtyard.

The courtyard went quiet.

Max stood alone in the room prepared for him. For a while, he didn’t move. His gaze slowly drifted toward the direction of the ancestral hall, even though it was no longer visible from here. The image of the statue stayed clear in his mind.

The tall man with closed eyes. The calm face. The hand resting near his side. That indescribable presence that didn’t feel like tyranny, divinity, or ordinary supremacy, but something even stranger.

And more importantly, the reaction inside Max’s blood.

The moment he’d seen that statue, several powers inside him had stirred violently. His Black Dragon Chaotic Bloodline had reacted. His Heavenly Luminance Divine Bloodline had trembled. His Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline had pulsed. Even the deeper parts of his foundation had shown signs of movement.

That shouldn’t have happened.

Max frowned slightly.

‘Why did my blood react like that?’

He couldn’t think of any clear reason. He didn’t know the First Progenitor of the Four Sacred Clans. He’d never heard his name, never seen his face, and never received any inheritance connected to him. Max’s major bloodlines and powers all had known sources.

The Black Dragon Chaotic Bloodline came from the Black Dragon side. The Heavenly Luminance Divine Bloodline came from his mother’s lineage. The Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline had just been granted by the Primordial Race. His Dimensional Sovereign Body came from his Dimensional Keeper’s legacy.

None of them should have reacted so strongly to that statue. Unless there was a deeper connection he didn’t know about.

Max stayed silent for a long time. Then he shook his head. There was no point guessing without information.

The Bloodline Legacy Battle would start in a week. Rose had said the forbidden bloodline could only be properly shown inside the clan, and the ancestral statue had already caused a reaction.

As long as he stayed here, there would likely be more chances to uncover the truth.

For now, there was something more practical to handle.
