Chapter 1172: Death

He placed it in front of himself. The orb floated at chest height, slowly rotating as strange symbols appeared across its surface.

Dream closed his eyes.

Then he began chanting.

I immediately felt something change within the Eternal Seal.

The crimson chains binding me and Viserys began glowing brighter.

Dream’s chanting continued, each word carrying a strange resonance that seemed to travel directly through the artifact rather than through the air.

Then something emerged from his chest.

A black chain.

Unlike the crimson chains surrounding us, this one was completely dark, and its links seemed to be formed from condensed shadows.

It emerged directly from Dream’s chest and extended toward me.

The final link pierced the crimson dome and connected itself to my chest.

A second chain emerged from Dream and extended toward Viserys, attaching itself to her as well.

The moment both connections were established, the entire Eternal Seal pulsed.

My body immediately felt heavier.

The suppression intensified. The chains were no longer simply binding me and Viserys separately.

They were connecting our existences through Dream.

Viserys’s eyes widened.

Then she screamed.

“I will kill you!”

The black smoke erupted violently from the cracks across her body.

“I will kill you!”

Her voice shook the entire dimension.

“I will kill you all!”

The black ocean responded.

The thousands of knights suddenly became frenzied.

Their blue eyes burned brighter as their weapons were raised toward the remaining Saints. A collective roar erupted from their ranks.

Then they charged.

Some continued throwing themselves against Dream’s golden barrier, striking it again and again with increasing fury, while the rest turned toward the surviving expedition.

Kaelra barely had time to raise her arms before a wave of black knights descended upon her.

Sue immediately attempted to manipulate time around them, but her exhausted Domain struggled to contain so many enemies at once.

Gerald opened a spatial rift beneath a group of knights and redirected them away from the wounded Saints, yet dozens more immediately replaced them.

The battlefield erupted into chaos once again, and my attention immediately shifted toward the surviving Saints.

They were already exhausted from everything that had happened, with several barely able to remain on their feet. Their injuries were severe, their Soul Force depleted, and if the black knights reached them in their current condition, I had little doubt that some of them would die within moments.

I couldn’t remain inside the seal and simply watch that happen. There was only one option left.

I closed my eyes and allowed my Soul Force to spread outward. Despite the restrictions imposed by the Eternal Seal, I managed to force enough energy through my connection to the summoning space.

A crimson circle appeared beside me within the confines of the dome, its surface rippling as the space inside it began to distort. A moment later, familiar figures stepped through. Lyrate emerged first, her Saint-level aura immediately spreading across the battlefield, followed by Knight in his imposing armor and Ragnar, who emerged beside him with his enormous weapon already in hand. One after another, my summons appeared, each carrying the overwhelming presence they had.

Only one figure was missing. The Saint Eternal I had acquired.

I looked at the summons gathered before me and gave them a single command.

“Protect them.”

They understood immediately. Lyrate vanished first, appearing beside the most severely wounded Saints and positioning herself between them and the approaching army. Knight charged straight into the nearest formation of black knights, his tail colliding with an enormous black sword and sending both warriors flying apart. Ragnar followed with a thunderous roar, swinging his weapon through a wide arc that tore through an entire group of knights before they could reach Sue.

The battlefield descended into another brutal confrontation. Endless black knights continued pouring from the dark ocean while my summons met them head-on, their weapons colliding with black Soul Force as lightning and other abilities tore through the darkness.

Blood spilled across the fractured ground, and the surviving Saints finally gained enough breathing room to recover while my summons formed a living barrier between them and the seemingly endless army.

Yet my attention kept returning to Dream.

He remained focused on the strange orb floating before him, his chanting never stopping. The black chain connecting his chest to mine pulsed once more, and I felt another wave of suppression travel through my body.

I stared at him through the crimson barrier.

He had planned this far more carefully than I had initially realized.

Instantly I commanded my summon to attack Dream. The command reached them instantly.

Knight was the only one who didn’t move. He remained beside the injured Saints, his claws sweeping through every black knight that attempted to approach them. The others, however, immediately turned their attention toward Dream and the golden barrier surrounding him.

Lyrate moved first.

Her crimson eyes sharpened as her sword appeared in her hand, and an immense Saint-level aura erupted from her body. At the same time, her Domain unfolded across the battlefield, flooding the surrounding space with crimson radiance. She raised her sword and drew it backward, concentrating everything into a single point before swinging forward.

A colossal crimson slash tore through the air and raced toward Dream’s golden barrier.

Ragnar followed.

His enormous body surged forward as his Domain spread around him, and the massive club in his hands began gathering terrifying amounts of Soul Force. The weapon grew increasingly dense until the space surrounding its surface began collapsing under its weight.

He roared and swung.

Aurora moved at the same instant.

Her Domain erupted into a storm of lightning, countless bolts converging toward her body before being compressed into a single blinding spear. She thrust both hands forward, and the accumulated lightning shot toward Dream like a pillar descending from the heavens.

Ash came next.

His Domain unfolded silently, and countless sealing laws began appearing across the battlefield. Symbols layered over one another until they formed an enormous sealing formation directly behind his body. Every rune contained a different restriction, and as he pushed both palms forward, the entire formation surged toward the golden barrier.

Silver was already moving.

His Domain manifested around him as violent winds began spiraling into existence. The surrounding air compressed into a rapidly rotating spear, its tip becoming so sharp that space itself began tearing around it. He thrust his hand forward, and the enormous wind spear shot toward Dream’s barrier with terrifying speed.

They struck the golden barrier at the same instant.

BOOOOOOM!

The entire battlefield shook.

The golden dome, which had previously remained almost completely unaffected by the black knights, finally reacted. Cracks spread across its surface as crimson sword energy, Ragnar’s overwhelming physical force, Aurora’s lightning, Ash’s sealing authority and Silver’s rotating wind spear collided against it simultaneously.

Dream’s expression changed.

The barrier cracked further. A web of fractures spread across its entire surface.

Then—

CRACK!

The golden dome shattered.

Fragments of golden energy scattered through the air.

Dream’s chanting stopped. His eyes widened as he instinctively reached toward the crimson-black cube.

But he was too late. Lyrate was already there. She had moved before the barrier had even completely disappeared.

Her sword flashed.

A single crimson arc crossed Dream’s neck. There was no hesitation in her action.

No opportunity for him to activate another artifact.

His head separated from his body.

Blood erupted into the air as Dream’s expression remained frozen in disbelief, his body collapsing a moment later.

Lyrate landed several meters behind him, her sword still extended from the completed slash.

For a brief moment, the battlefield became strangely quiet.

Then Dream’s body fell.

The crimson-black cube slipped from his fingers and struck the ground.

I stared at it through the Eternal Seal.

Dream was dead.

But the chains binding me and Viserys were still there. The Eternal Seal had not disappeared with its master.
