Summary
Qinghe City is not an easy place for someone with no backing.
When Su Jingxing arrives in this unfamiliar world, the situation waiting for him is far from ideal. The body he inherits belongs to a young man with little to his name, no influential relatives, no impressive reputation, and very few options for making a living. Compared to the martial artists who dominate the city, people like him barely attract a second glance.
Finding work is difficult enough.
Keeping that work is another matter.
In the end, Su Jingxing takes a position that most people would rather avoid altogether. The pay is modest, the environment is gloomy, and few are eager to spend their days there. Still, it provides a roof over his head and enough stability to avoid worrying about his next meal.
For a while, that seems like it will be his life.
Then strange things start happening.
The place where he works begins revealing opportunities that should not exist. What others dismiss as ordinary suddenly becomes valuable in ways Su Jingxing cannot fully explain. At first he treats it as luck. After all, anyone would. But after the same thing happens again and again, ignoring it becomes impossible.
The changes are not dramatic overnight.
Su Jingxing is still living in the same city, dealing with the same problems, and trying to stay out of trouble whenever possible. The difference is that he now possesses a way to slowly close the gap between himself and the people standing above him.
In a world where martial arts influence nearly everything, that advantage is difficult to overstate.
Qinghe City itself is full of competing interests, wandering experts, old grudges, and opportunities hidden in places most people never think to look. The stronger Su Jingxing becomes, the more often he finds himself brushing against matters that have little to do with an ordinary worker trying to earn a living.
Which is slightly unfortunate.
His original plan was simply to survive.
Instead, he keeps finding reasons to aim a little higher than that.
And once a person starts moving forward, stopping is rarely as easy as it sounds.
