Chapter 1981: A Shocking News!
Max’s gaze swept across them. The head of the Valerius Clan still looked cold, but the arrogance in his eyes had faded a little. The Ashbourne head frowned deeply, clearly unwilling to accept the result but unable to deny what had just happened in front of everyone.
The Ravenhart head stayed silent, her gaze thoughtful, as if she suspected there was more to this than met the eye. The Evercrest head, his chest still carrying faint traces of the wound Max had given him, looked at Max with anger, humiliation, and restrained killing intent.
Above them, the four sacred ancestors stayed equally silent, their expressions complicated. They’d wanted to test whether Max carried the stolen sacred legacy.
The test had failed to prove that. Worse for them, it had happened in front of the entire younger generation, in front of the Voidwalker remnants, in front of Freya, and in front of the awakened fifth end.
They could still distrust Max. They could still fear the Dimensional Keeper Legacy. But they couldn’t openly claim he was the vessel of the stolen sacred legacy anymore without making themselves look unreasonable.
Max’s voice broke the silence.
“Now that it’s proven I don’t carry your sacred legacy.”
His tone stayed calm, but every word carried clearly across the arena. The four clan heads all looked at him at once.
Max continued, “Will you unseal the Voidwalker Clan?”
That question hit the arena like a thunderclap. Many descendants of the Four Sacred Clans widened their eyes. The elders frowned sharply. Several clan guards tightened their grips on their weapons without meaning to.
Even Rose looked at Max in surprise, and Angelina Valerius’s expression shifted slightly. Freya, though, stayed still in the sky, her gaze locked on the four sacred ancestors. The thousands of Voidwalker descendants behind her didn’t say anything, but their auras turned colder.
The Voidwalker Ancestor looked at Max. For the first time since revealing the buried history, the old man’s expression softened again.
The question was simple. But it carried a weight that had lasted countless years. The Voidwalker Clan had been sealed because of the sacred legacy.
The Four Sacred Clans had called them traitors, imprisoned their people, abandoned their platform, erased their name, and hunted down or suppressed their remaining bloodline branches.
Now the very reason they’d used to imprison Max had been weakened in front of everyone. If Max didn’t carry the stolen sacred legacy, the old accusation couldn’t be thrown around so carelessly anymore.
The Valerius head’s face darkened.
“Unseal the Voidwalker Clan?” he repeated coldly.
The Ashbourne head snorted. “You think one test is enough to overturn countless years of judgment?”
Freya’s eyes turned icy.
Max looked at him calmly. “Then what would be enough? You accused me of carrying the stolen legacy. I touched the statue. Nothing happened. Your own ancestors said the statue would react if I carried it.”
The Ravenhart head narrowed her eyes. “The test only proves you don’t carry the true sacred legacy. It doesn’t erase the old crimes of the Voidwalker Clan.”
Max’s eyes turned colder. “Old crimes committed by some members influenced by the sacred legacy itself.”
The Evercrest head gritted his teeth. “You’re in no position to lecture us about our own history.”
Max smiled faintly. “Your history seems like it could use some correcting.”
The mood tightened at once. Several Evercrest elders glared furiously at him, while Ashbourne warriors let out low growls of battle intent. The Valerius descendants looked offended, and even a few Ravenhart elders frowned.
But among the younger geniuses, the reactions weren’t so simple. Cassian Valerius stayed silent. Draven Ashbourne looked at Max with a strange expression, no longer dismissing him as just arrogant. Seraphine Ravenhart watched everything with deep, thoughtful eyes. Aelric Evercrest stood pale and wounded, but even he seemed shaken by how far this had all gone.
The Valerius ancestor slowly raised his hand, and the sacred clan heads immediately fell silent.
His old eyes settled on Max.
“The sealing of the Voidwalker Clan can’t be undone with one sentence,” he said. “Even if you don’t carry the sacred legacy, even if the history is more complicated than our descendants ever knew, the Voidwalker Clan still broke the seal and caused the sacred legacy to disappear. A matter like this can’t be settled in the middle of an arena.”
The Voidwalker Ancestor’s gaze turned cold. “How convenient.”
The Ashbourne ancestor said heavily, “Voidwalker, don’t test our patience. We agreed to stop the fighting because the truth needed to come out. That doesn’t mean the old judgment has been erased.”
Freya’s voice came down from the sky. “Then when will it be erased?”
No one answered right away. The silence itself was the answer.
Max’s expression turned colder.
Before the four clan heads could say anything more, a disturbance suddenly broke out from outside the arena. A spatial gate tore open violently near the outer entrance of the Bloodline Legacy Battle grounds.
The gate looked unstable, trembling as if whoever opened it had used emergency authority without waiting for proper clearance. Several guards immediately stepped forward, but before they could stop the newcomer, a figure rushed through the gate and stumbled into the arena.
It was a messenger of the Four Sacred Clans. His robe was torn. His face was pale. Blood stained the corner of his mouth, and his aura felt chaotic, as if he’d crossed several emergency transfer formations back to back without stabilizing himself. The moment he appeared, everyone’s attention snapped toward him.
The Valerius head frowned. “What’s the meaning of this?”
The messenger didn’t even manage a proper bow at first. He nearly collapsed to the ground, caught himself with one hand, and then lifted his head with a look of panic that instantly tightened the chests of several elders.
“Masters!” His voice cracked. “Devils!”
The entire arena went still. That single word carried a chill sharp enough to cut through every argument going on.
The messenger’s eyes were wide with panic.
“Devils have appeared in the Divine Realm!”
For a moment, no one reacted. Then the whole arena exploded with disbelief.
“Impossible!”
“How could devils show up in our Divine Realm?”
“How could they have even reached our universe?”
“Devils? Here?”
“Are you certain?”
The messenger trembled under the weight of every gaze fixed on him.
The Valerius head’s expression changed drastically. “What did you just say?”
The Ashbourne head stepped forward, his voice booming across the arena. “How could devils get into our universe? Weren’t all the devils supposed to have been wiped out long ago?”
“That’s impossible!” an elder shouted. “The ancient records clearly say the last devil army was completely exterminated!”
“The remaining devils were sealed outside the universe!”
“There shouldn’t be a single devil left anywhere in the Divine Realm!”
“Did the border seals break?”
“Who opened the passage?”
The descendants of the Four Sacred Clans were completely shaken, their faces filled with disbelief, fear, and confusion. Many of them had grown up hearing that the devils were eradicated from the Divine Realm countless years ago.
To them, devils weren’t a living race that could just suddenly come back. They were remnants of an ancient catastrophe, enemies already destroyed and buried in history.
