Chapter 1962: Shocked Max!
This was Aelric’s strongest attack. A forbidden art powered by his Evercrest bloodline. It didn’t just attack the opponent. It tried to seal the entire battlefield, fold every direction, bind every escape route, and crush the enemy beneath the combined weight of space and life.
Moreover, this was also his pseudo cosmic path. His pseudo cosmic path was so strong that it couldn’t be utilized without using an external technique or having an external source of power.
The arena formation trembled under the pressure. Even Angelina Valerius narrowed her eyes slightly. The people of Valerius, Ashbourne, Ravenhart, and Evercrest all fell silent. No one had expected Aelric to be forced into using such a powerful attack in the very first battle.
Max looked at the enormous sealing tree descending toward him. The pressure was strong, far stronger than anything Aelric had used earlier.
The entire battlefield seemed to turn into a cage, and every part of that cage was closing in around Max. If he’d been an ordinary genius, even a peak Law Manifestation Realm genius, this attack could have decided the battle instantly.
But Max wasn’t ordinary.
His Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline pulsed again. The laws around him drew even closer. The five Divine Veins inside him blazed with power.
The Vein of Origin. The Vein of Vitality. The Vein of Speed. The Vein of Strength. The Vein of Resilience. His body turned stable, full of life, fast, powerful, and nearly unbreakable.
The Vein of Resilience resisted the sealing pressure trying to push into his body. The Vein of Strength drove terrifying force into his arms. The Vein of Speed sharpened his reaction to every closing spatial layer. The Vein of Vitality kept his blood and flesh in perfect condition. The Vein of Origin anchored everything together.
Then Max raised Dragonheart. This time, he didn’t rely on the Emotion Severing Path alone. Divine King Punishment descended. Seven-colored lightning wrapped around the blade, forming the faint image of a divine tribunal above him.
At the same time, the Devouring Flames Domain condensed into black fire along the sword edge. The Emotion Severing Path flowed through the center, turning the slash into a blade that could cut through more than matter alone. It could cut connection, sealing roots, law threads, and the very structure holding Aelric’s forbidden art together.
Under the boost from the Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline, all three Pseudo Cosmic Paths became terrifying. Ten times stronger. Ten times sharper. Ten times closer to the laws they represented.
Max’s white hair moved in the storm of green-gold light. He stepped forward. The arena shook.
Aelric roared, “Seal him!”
The enormous ancestor tree descended.
Max swung Dragonheart. “Break.”
One word. One slash. A black, seven-colored, and invisible sword light tore across the battlefield.
The slash cut through the first layer of space. Then the second. Then the third. The roots of the ancestor tree were severed from the battlefield. The branches lost their connection to the folded domains.
The life-sealing runes were judged by Divine King Punishment and shattered under seven-colored lightning. The black flames devoured the loosened power. The Emotion Severing Path cut through the final structure holding the forbidden art together.
For a moment, the entire arena turned silent. Then the massive tree split apart.
Boom!
The explosion shook the arena violently. Green-gold light scattered like broken stars. Spatial layers collapsed one after another.
The sealing roots snapped across the battlefield, and the runes beneath the arena flashed madly to suppress the aftershock. Even the four sacred clan platforms felt the vibration under their feet.
Aelric stood frozen behind the collapsing forbidden art. His eyes went wide. He couldn’t believe it. His strongest attack had been broken. Not avoided. Not delayed. Broken straight from the front.
Max appeared before him through the storm of shattered light. Aelric tried to raise his hand, but Max was faster. Dragonheart stopped at Aelric’s throat. The black blade touched his skin lightly, and a thin line of blood appeared.
Aelric’s body stiffened. The battlefield went completely silent.
Max looked at him calmly. “You lose.”
Aelric’s face turned pale. The strongest Evercrest heir of the current generation had been defeated. Not after a long battle. Not after exhausting Max. Defeated cleanly, in front of the statue of the First Progenitor, before the eyes of Valerius, Ashbourne, Ravenhart, and Evercrest.
For several breaths, no one spoke. Then Angelina Valerius’s voice rang across the arena.
“Aelric Evercrest is defeated.”
She looked at Max, and even her eyes carried a trace of amazement.
“Winner, Max Morgan.”
Angelina’s eyes remained on Max for several moments. She could feel that Max had grown way stronger than what he was at during the Cosmic Ascension Conference.
‘Is it the Primordial Race bloodline?’ She wondered. Though she wasn’t certain if it was only the Primordial Race bloodline or something else was boosting Max’s power.
The entire arena erupted. The Evercrest platform filled with disbelief and humiliation. The Ashbourne side burst into excited laughter.
The Valerius side turned solemn. The Ravenhart descendants watched Max with eyes that had grown far more serious. Rose stood on the lower platform, staring at the scene with emotions she couldn’t fully hide.
Max lowered Dragonheart. His Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline slowly quieted down. The five Divine Veins closed one after another. The tenfold strength faded, but the memory of that power stayed inside him like a promise.
He could feel it clearly. This was only the beginning of the Primordial Bloodline’s power. He hadn’t even unlocked its true potential yet.
But more than that, something else about the fight had left Max troubled. All through the battle with Aelric, he kept sensing that Aelric’s bloodline felt strangely familiar, and the more Aelric drew on it, the more Max felt something stirring inside himself in response.
By the very end, Max finally realized what part of him had been reacting to Aelric’s bloodline.
What he found shocked him to his core.
Even more than that, it left him with a flood of questions, questions he had no way of answering yet.
