Summary
After losing both of his parents within a short span of time, Zhang Zian returns to Binhai City with an inheritance he never wanted, an aging pet shop stripped of every last animal. During his parents’ final months, every pet had been sold or given away to cover medical bills, leaving Amazing Fate Pet Shop silent for the first time in years. Closing the business seems like the sensible choice until a familiar customer, a little girl who still remembers spending afternoons with the shop’s cats and dogs, reminds him that the place once meant something to the neighborhood. It is enough to make him stay, even though he barely knows the first thing about running a pet store and has no idea how he is supposed to bring it back to life.
His days settle into an ordinary routine of scrubbing dusty shelves, repairing neglected cages, dealing with paperwork, and wondering where his first customers will come from. That quiet routine breaks when a strange mobile game appears on his phone without explanation. It calls itself a pet-catching game, but its rewards refuse to stay inside the screen. The first creature he obtains is not an ordinary animal at all, but an elf with a sharp tongue, an oversized ego, and knowledge that should not exist. The impossible becomes impossible to deny, and before long Zhang Zian realizes the game is quietly choosing him for something far bigger than rebuilding a forgotten shop.
Running the pet shop becomes less about selling animals (as it should) and more about dealing with stubborn mythical guests, confused customers, and situations that no normal shop owner could ever prepare for. The mystery surrounding the game never disappears, but it stays in the background while everyday life keeps moving forward, making each new discovery feel like a natural part of the journey instead of a sudden plot twist.
