Summary
Ye Jiayao should have been celebrating her wedding, instead she wakes up inside the body of another woman, dressed in bridal red and surrounded by people she has never met. Before she can understand where she is or whose memories she has inherited, the wedding procession is attacked by a group of mountain bandits. The bride is carried away to their stronghold and, before the dust has even settled, she is told she will be marrying the stockade’s Third Master instead.
Running is impossible, so adapting becomes her only choice. Life inside the mountain fortress is nothing like the peaceful future she had imagined for herself. Every face is unfamiliar, every conversation hides another meaning, and trusting the wrong person could easily make things worse. The man everyone fears as the ruthless Third Master is especially difficult to understand. His actions rarely match the rumors surrounding him, leaving Ye Jiayao constantly wondering whether she is living beside an outlaw, an ally, or someone playing a much larger game.
She survives the same way she handled problems in her previous life, by keeping a cool head instead of rushing into decisions. Rather than trying to outfight people who have spent their lives surviving in the mountains, she earns her place in quieter ways. Cooking, something she once treated as both a profession and a passion, unexpectedly becomes her greatest advantage. A well-prepared meal changes opinions faster than arguments ever could, and before long people begin remembering her for far more than being the kidnapped bride.
That small beginning slowly leads her beyond the walls of the stockade. Familiar names from the capital, influential families, merchants, officials, and old grudges begin crossing her path, making it obvious that the mountain stronghold is connected to a much bigger picture. The identity of the Third Master becomes increasingly difficult to explain, while Ye Jiayao discovers that her own future is drifting further away from the simple life she originally wanted.
Even after escaping the danger of her first days, peace never really lasts. She still dreams of opening a restaurant and living by her own abilities, but every step toward that goal seems to pull her into another scheme, another misunderstanding, or another conflict she never intended to join. For Ye Jiayao, surviving ancient times is only the beginning, finding a place where she truly belongs turns out to be the harder task.
