Others obtain angels, rare elemental creatures, or mysterious beings recorded in ancient textbooks. A strong symbiote can change a person’s future overnight, determining everything from social status to career opportunities.
Needless to say, nobody gets excited about a slime.
The reactions Ye Feng receives are about what he expected. Some people laugh, some offer sympathy, and a few immediately lose interest in him altogether. Compared to the dazzling creatures contracted by other youths, his little companion appears completely ordinary.
At first, even Ye Feng struggles to argue otherwise.
Still, there is something unusual about his situation.
At first, Ye Feng assumes he simply got unlucky. The more time he spends with the slime, however, the less convincing that explanation becomes. It continues doing things that ordinary slimes are not known for, forcing him to question whether the creature at his side is actually as common as it looks.
Ye Feng soon realizes that dismissing it as an ordinary slime may be a mistake.
The world itself is larger than it first appears. Beyond the cities are unexplored regions, rare creatures, hidden opportunities, and countless people hoping to strengthen their own symbiotic partners. Competition is everywhere, and nobody is willing to fall behind if they can help it.
For Ye Feng, that creates an interesting problem.
The stronger his slime becomes, the harder it is to explain.
Questions start appearing long before answers do. People become curious, rumors begin spreading, and situations that once had nothing to do with him suddenly become difficult to avoid.
All because of a creature most people would not have looked at twice.
As for whether that unremarkable slime is truly as harmless as it appears, Ye Feng intends to find out for himself, preferably before everyone else does.
