Summary
For seventeen years, Sheng Yang lived a life that had nothing to do with the Sheng Family.
While her biological relatives searched for her, she grew up in a quiet town under the care of her grandmother. Life was simple, sometimes lonely, but never as miserable as outsiders later imagined. By the time the Sheng Family finally brings her home, countless assumptions have already been made on her behalf.
Most people expect an awkward reunion.
After all, the Sheng Family is one of the most well-known families in the city, while Sheng Yang spent most of her life far away from that world. Relatives discuss her behind closed doors, classmates become curious, and strangers who have never met her somehow feel qualified to judge her. Some pity her background, others question whether she can fit into her new environment at all.
Sheng Yang pays little attention to any of it.
Compared to everyone around her, she seems unusually calm. She rarely argues, rarely explains herself, and shows almost no interest in competing for approval. While others are busy deciding what kind of person she must be, Sheng Yang is more concerned with settling into her new life and understanding the family she barely knows.
The Sheng household itself is far from simple.
There are expectations she never asked for, relatives she has never met, and a constant stream of people who seem determined to compare her with someone else. The deeper she becomes involved in that world, the more complicated things get.
What confuses people most is that Sheng Yang never behaves the way they expect.
The image many created of her begins falling apart piece by piece, replaced by someone much harder to define. Teachers, classmates, industry figures, and even people who normally avoid unnecessary attention gradually find themselves remembering her name.
As for Sheng Yang, she would much rather focus on her own plans.
Other people’s opinions have never been particularly important to her, and returning to the Sheng Family is only the beginning of a much larger change in her life.
