Summary
When Lou Cheng enrolls at Songcheng University, he is not thinking of becoming famous or matter of fact, prove himself to anyone. He is just another freshman who’s genuinely trying to adjust to campus life. The one thing he truly hopes for is seeing Yan Zheke again. She was his high school crush, and after learning that she joined the university’s Martial Arts Club, he signs up as well, even though he has never seriously trained before.
Actually talking to her turns out to be much harder than joining the club. Left alone, Lou Cheng would probably keep finding reasons to put it off. His roommate, Cai Zongming, has other ideas. Between joking around and constantly pushing him forward, Cai somehow manages to get Lou Cheng to stop overthinking everything. Their first conversations are a little awkward, but they feel natural, more like two old classmates getting to know each other again than the start of some dramatic romance.
The club itself is nothing like Lou Cheng imagined. Martial arts are part of everyday life, with universities competing against one another in organized tournaments that attract large crowds and media attention. Senior members train almost every day, newcomers struggle to keep up, and everyone seems to have a goal they have been working toward for years. Lou Cheng quickly finds himself at the bottom of the group, where effort alone is not always enough to close the gap.
Around that time, he unexpectedly obtains a strange cultivation treasure that helps him begin practicing in ways other people cannot. Even so, it does not solve every problem. He still gets exhausted, still loses matches, and still has to spend countless hours training if he wants to improve. Progress comes slowly enough that he notices every small step, and the people around him notice it too.
The days pass through classes, training sessions, meals with roommates, club gatherings, and competitions that gradually become more important. Lou Cheng’s world grows a little busier than he expected when he first arrived on campus. He wanted nothing more than to reconnect with someone he admired for years, yet somewhere along the way he also found a reason to keep stepping onto the training floor, even on the days when going back to the dorm sounded much easier.
