Summary
Nobody in the Ashen Spirit Sect expects much from Ye Zifeng. His cultivation has barely improved in years, his damaged meridians make him the laughingstock of his generation, and even members of his own clan have slowly accepted that he will never amount to anything. Once a family with influence, the Ye Clan has declined alongside him, leaving little hope that either of them will recover.
Then Ye Zifeng opens his eyes, and the person inside that body is no longer the same.
Before his death, he had spent a lifetime standing at the top of the continent as an alchemist whose skill few could rival. Kings sought his help, cultivators treasured his pills, and even powerful sects treated him with respect. Everything came to an end during the refinement of an extraordinary pill, an accident that should have erased him completely, yet instead of disappearing, his soul awakens inside a young man who happens to share his name. The contrast is almost laughable, from someone people admired to someone nobody bothers taking seriously.
The body he inherits creates problems that knowledge alone cannot solve. His cultivation is a mess, his reputation is even worse, and people have already decided what kind of future awaits him. Even an engagement that once seemed certain falls apart as those around him begin showing their true faces. Still, after reaching the peak once before, starting over feels less frightening than accepting defeat.
Rather than chasing quick victories, Ye Zifeng begins fixing the foundation everyone else had written off. His understanding of herbs, alchemy, and cultivation lets him notice details that experienced cultivators overlook, and little by little those advantages begin changing the direction of his new life. People who once mocked him find themselves questioning whether the useless disciple they knew has somehow become a different person overnight.
His choices also affect those closest to him. The Ye Clan is struggling to hold onto what little influence it still possesses, while his younger sister remains one of the few people who never completely loses faith in him. Protecting them becomes just as important as restoring his own strength. What begins with a disgraced disciple trying to repair a broken body gradually grows into the story of a man determined to reclaim everything he once lost, this time with far fewer illusions about the people standing around him.
