Summary
When Ji Yi was eighteen, there was only one person she wanted to confess to.
She spent a long time gathering the courage to do it, only for everything to end in a way she never saw coming. After that, He Jichen became a name she avoided thinking about. There were too many unanswered questions, too many things she couldn’t understand, and eventually too much time had passed to keep dwelling on it.
So she moved on.
Years later, Ji Yi returns to Beijing and throws herself into building a career in the entertainment industry. The work is exhausting, competition is everywhere, and every opportunity seems to come with strings attached. Keeping up is difficult enough without old memories resurfacing.
Unfortunately, He Jichen shows up again.
The strange thing is that he never behaves the way she expects him to. Sometimes he seems completely indifferent to her existence. Other times he steps in to help before disappearing again without explanation. No matter how much Ji Yi tries to make sense of him, she always ends up more confused than before.
The longer they remain involved in each other’s lives, the harder it becomes to ignore the past.
People around them seem to know things she doesn’t. Certain events no longer make sense when viewed from the perspective she has carried for years. Even memories she once considered settled begin to look different.
For Ji Yi, the situation would be much easier if she could simply dislike He Jichen and move on.
The problem is that every answer she finds seems to lead to another question.
And some questions have been waiting years to be asked.
By the time Ji Yi starts piecing together what really happened, she begins to realize that the story she has been telling herself all these years may have been missing far more than a few details.
